Home!

Hi Everyone, Just a note to say "Praise Jesus!". The jet lag hit today and I am out of steam. America looks different now. Not better, nor worse. Just a new set of eyes for things that were always familiar. I bring home a deeper experience of how faithful Jesus is in every situation. I hope that I can encourage all of us to believe in ourselves less, our eyes and ears less, our thoughts less, and to believe in Him more. We will be glad when we do!!

Please pray. Just Pray !!!! Steve

Bethlehem Church Narsapur AP India

What is the True Gospel?

Bethlehem Church, Narsapur, A. P. India
Rev. B. Israel, Founder, November 17, 2013
Galatians 1:1-10 ESV.
It is a great blessing to be invited to speak here at Bethel Church, the home of Pastor Israel, and the place where so many students, believers and friends have lived and worshipped for so many years. I feel it is the highest personal honor to speak to you today.
In just two short weeks I will again be in the United States, landing in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday evening November 30, where my son Ryan and friends will greet me.
As I say goodbye to you, my many dear friends here, I look forward to seeing my loved ones at home again, to share my joy from India with them.
I was privileged by God to be born in the State of Ohio, USA, in 1945, and grow up in beautiful Ohio, with parents who knew and loved Jesus Christ, and a family of God at First Baptist Church, Lima, Ohio, where God called me to the Christian Ministry in 1961.
I was also greatly blessed to serve several churches as pastor, and given grace to do other Christian works throughout my lifetime. To God be the glory for all these great blessings!!!
Since a young age I loved the Scriptures. God created a hunger in me for the Word of God. This desire for the Word of God gets stronger all the time, as I see its wondrous power to save to the uttermost all who come to God through Christ, even to the ends of the earth.
What is this wondrous power?
What is it that happens when the Word of God is preached in truth, and when God anoints His Word?
We see miracles, signs and wonders. We see prayers answered, villages transformed, families brought from darkness to light, sick bodies healed, churches planted, churches grown, and entire nations blessed with Light and Life eternal. What is this wondrous power of the Word of God?

It is The Gospel.
1.       God calls it ‘The Gospel of God’.
a.       Mark 1:14-15 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
b.      Romans 1:1-3 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord.
c.       1 Peter 4:17 For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
2.       The Bible also simply calls it: The Gospel.
a.       Romans 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
b.      1 Corinthians 1:17-18 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.
c.       1 Corinthians 15:1-3 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you — unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.
3.       The Gospel is ‘The Gospel of Your Salvation’.
a.       Ephesians 1:13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
b.      1 Timothy 1:12 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
c.       Matthew 1:19-21 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived within her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.
4.       The Mystery of the Gospel is Christ Himself.
a.       Ephesians 6:18-19 Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth, boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel.
b.      Colossians 1:27 To [the saints] God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
c.       1 Timothy 3:16 Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.
d.      John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but shall have everlasting life.
5.       The Gospel is our Gospel, my Gospel. We have received it. It is ours.
a.       1 Thessalonians 1:5 For we know, brothers loved by God, that He has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit with full conviction.
b.      2 Timothy 2:8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel.
6.       The Gospel is an Eternal Gospel.
a.       Revelation 14:6 Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people.
b.      John 6:66-68 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer waked with him. So Jesus said to the Twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
c.       Revelation 5:9-10 And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth. . . . To him who sits on the throng and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever.” (13b)
7.       Is there a ‘Different Gospel’?
a.       Galatians 1:6-7 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting [transpose/exchange] him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different [not of the same nature]  gospel — not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort [pervert/turn into the opposite = sunlight to darkness, laughter into grief] the gospel of Christ.

Paul, an apostle— not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead — and all the brothers who are with me,
To the churches of Galatia: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel — not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed [given to God for destruction with no hope of being redeemed]. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

The Gospel has always been under attack. The devil hates the good news that we are loved and saved by God. He tries to force people back under guilt, under the law, under pressure to perform and please God. But we have received mercy and grace. We are loved, forgiven and accepted.
b.      Galatians 3:10-11 For all who rely on works of the Law are under a curse, for it is written, Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law to do them. Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”
c.       Galatians 3:13-14 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us — for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree” — so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
d.      2 Corinthians 11:3-4 But I am afraid that as the serpent deluded and cheated Eve by his subtlety, your minds will be corrupted from the simplicity which is in Christ. For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus that the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.
8.       We must cling to the True Gospel.
a.       Galatians 1:3-5 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
b.      Luke 24:45-48 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.
c.       1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.
d.      1 Corinthians 15:2-3 For I delivered to you of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.

The simplicity of Jesus and His love is greater than all subtlety, lies and deceit. Our hearts are simple and pure in Him.
e.      2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deluded and cheated Eve by his subtlety, your minds will be corrupted from the simplicity which is in Christ. [Let us not allow it.]
f.        1 Corinthians 14:20 Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature.
9.       We must suffer for the Gospel and contend for the Faith.
a.       2 Timothy 1:8-14 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me. Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you.
b.      Jude 3 Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
10.   God is faithful, and will keep us to the end, to everlasting life.
Jude 24-25 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

At times, we are stiff-necked like the Israelites, who built a golden calf when they could not wait for Moses to come down from the mountain. We become impatient with waiting when there is no God in sight, and build our own idols and start worshiping them, forgetting Him and His favors. Just need to remember this: He who brought you so far (out of Egypt) will never leave you even when you reach your destination (Promised Land).

To all Friends. THANK YOU so much for your prayers. The Pastors' Seminar was a very great success with over 60 pastors in attendance. Everyone was well pleased with the teaching and took copious notes, questions and great fellowship. What a joyous group!!! Triumphant servants of God.

What a rare and precious treasure this was: To serve them and wash their feet with the Glorious Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Billy Graham is still preaching the Gospel - the Saving News of God's Salvation. At age 68 I am inspired by his example -- serving God's Son on his birthday at age 95. Please watch and encourage others to watch this historic presentation of the ONLY Name under Heaven by which we MUST be saved.

Pastors Seminar - Praise Jesus!!

Dear Friends and Intercessors,
It has been a very emotional week with the death and burial of Brother Sharath’s mother, Mama Joshua. Thank you for your prayers.  The family is doing well.
The Harvesters and Gospel Fellowship of India are jointly sponsoring a Pastors' and Leaders' Seminar beginning Monday. It is dedicated to the Honor and Memory of Mrs. Sarojini Joshua, Mama Joshua, and her hundreds of children

The seminar was postponed from October 24 because of heavy rains. Now the weather is clear and cool. I have recovered from a chest cold and am feeling well. The pastors will eat lunch here, so please pray for Shanti and her helpers. We expect about 50 leaders for three days of teaching sessions under the topic “Doctrines of Salvation”.

SAROJINI JOSHUA
Please pray for the presence and work of the Holy Spirit. Also pray for Pastor Sundar Babu who will do the translation and for myself, to be surrendered to the Holy Spirit.

By your ardent prayers the Spirit of the Lord will cause the seminar to be of great help to all.
     With Love, Steve

GRACE - God's Riches At Christ's Expense

For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteous deeds are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.
But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. Is. 64:4-8 KJV

for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Rom. 3:23-27 KJV
According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. Eph. 3:11-12 KJV
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Eph. 2:8-10 KJV
The Gospel of Self-Denial is Coming to America

In this short clip, the true meaning of discipleship is revealed. With this Gospel, America can be won. The Other Gospel of Self will only plunge everyone into deeper despair.

Monday October 28, 2013 6:00 PM India Standard Time
Dear Friends and Intercessors,
Pastor Sharath Bhushan's mother, Mama Joshua, passed into the wonderful Presence of Jesus this afternoon about 4:00 PM India Standard Time. She was (and is) one of the great saints of God. After the death of her husband, when Pastor Bhushan was 15 years old, the oldest of seven children, she raised her seven children alone, and also hundreds of orphans at Santi Sudan, the children's hostel where they lived. All of her children are involved in some form of ministry, all are great leaders and children of God.
The family and friends are gathering even as I write, and we will be leaving for Santi Sudan in about one-half hour. Please lift up all the thousands around the world that will grieve her passing, and also give thanks and rejoice to God for her shining witness.
"And their works do follow them."
In the Faith of Jesus Christ,
Steve

You may send condolences to the family at bhushanys@hotmail.com.

Miracle Church October 27,2013 - Pastor Shravan and Sandhya

Miracle Church October 27, 2013

COME UNTO ME SAYS THE LORD

Matthew 11:28-30, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy-laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

John 6:37, “All those whom the Father gives to me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.

John 6:39, “And this is the will of the Him who sent me, that of all those whom He has given to me I should lose none but raise him up at the last day. For this is the will of my Father: that everyone who beholds the Son and believes on Him should have eternal life; and I will raise Him up at the last day.”

John 7:38, “He that believeth on m, as the Scripture has said, Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”

John 4:4-10, In a city of Samaria called Sychar, Jesus was weary; He  sat by a well at noon. A woman came to draw water and He asked her for a drink of water. She was surprised because she is a Samaritan and a woman. Christ says “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, Give me a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given thee living water.”

Pastor Shravan Kumar Interpreting

Jesus is God’s gift to us. We can ask Him for living water.

John 4:11-14, “Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, nor must I come all the way here to draw water.”

John 4:23, “The hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for such does the Father seek to be His worshippers.”

And she said, “I know that when Messiah comes (he who is called Christ) he will teach us all things.”

Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.” He said, I AM (Jehovan God), The One who is speaking to you.

Isaiah 12:3 “Therefore with joy shall you draw water out of the wells of salvation.”

How do we receive the Holy Spirit?

Galatians 3:1-9: Through the hearing of faith: The preaching of the Cross. Genesis 15:1-6, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” He believed God’s Promise.

Romans 3:21-26, “Through faith in His Blood” we receive.

John 2:16-17, For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved.

Acts 16:30-34, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”

John 10:1-5, 27-29, Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He will not let us be lost. We are His lambs.

Revelation 21:5-8 “the Alpha and the Omega, beginning and end, who sits on the throne, will give us water from the springs of life without cost.” For HE paid the price on Calvary.

Revelation 22:1-5, John saw “the river of the water of life” – We receive this river of the Holy Spirit when we receive Jesus.

                                                                                                                  Sandhya Teaching

Revelation 22:17, The Spirit and the Bride say COME: “Let him who is thirsty come and drink freely.”

Matthew 11;18-30. Come unto Me, all ye who labor and are heavy laden and I will refresh you . . .

With Loving, Living Water.

Pastor and children on a rainy afternoon.
Posted by Picasa

Postponed !!!

Scripture says "Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice!" and "Give thanks in all things!" and "All things work together for good to them who love God and are called according to His purpose." This is true!! We have been rained out. The heavy rains came in just after my previous Post this morning and it was clear that we needed to look out for the village pastors, who were experiencing great difficulty in their homes, which are not well-suited to the heavy rains. They would have been coming by bicycle or motor bike, perhaps with no coat, in the cold heavy rains.

We postponed. It is so good to let the Lord have His way. We have had a quiet day and time for prayer and recovery ourselves. Also we are getting ready for a trip next week out of town three days. This is a welcome time to rest.

The conference is postponed to November 4-6. Then Ron Bauza of Word of His Grace Ministries from Florida will be coming on November 15 and we will have another three day conference with him in a remote area. This is good time to gather strength.

Can you believe we are going into November and I return to the USA November 30. This five months has been a life-changer. I am asking God to help gather the crumbs into 12 baskets so that nothing is wasted or lost.

Thanks for your prayers!!!! Please keep Praying !!!!! Steve

Father's Love Letter

During the Women's Conference last week, one of the women shared this letter. It touched everyone very deeply: Father's Love Letter

Monday, 21 October 2013

Roger and Sarah shared this article with me and I thought it was absolutely astounding. What it says is true: Revival in India Coming. God is moving in the power of His mighty Spirit.

Indian Women at Prayer
This is a note to say "Thank You" to God, who knows every thought and every feeling. I have been at the computer for most of the afternoon, preparing for the upcoming pastors' seminar. For me, it is tiring work, and my shoulders were tired. I sat back and thought, "Gosh I wish I had a snack or something to drink." Those things are not readily available here as in the US.

Just then the door knocked and Bannu said, "Roger is back from Narsipur and he brought you this." It was an almond/milk drink! They are so refreshing. They put sweets, almonds and milk in a wonderful mixture, and it is cool and delicious. I told Roger, "You were an angel and didn't know it." God knew just how and when to pick up my spirits and refresh both my body and my heart.

It has been a difficult time, even with the "Bandh" over, there is tension and warfare for us. Prayer is necessary every day. Shanti carries so much and she was not feeling well this morning. She went to school anyway. She is back now and feeling better, but I believe Sharath will take her to the 'hospital' -- doctor's office. This doctor is a former classmate to Sharath, a prominent figure in his community. He is a good person, a good friend and good doctor. When I arrived from the USA I had an infected finger. He put it right very quickly. He also gave the antibiotics which helped with the chest cold I have been fighting.

Last week his daughter had her "Half-Sari" celebration. When a young girl becomes a woman, at the time of her womanliness, there is a great celebration. She sits on a throne and everyone brings presents and greetings. This celebration covered an entire city block and there was traffic backed up both ways. Hundreds of people. Everyone was fed a huge meal, on long tables. The food was very good, very spicy, the best Indian cooking. Our doctor friend is very favorable to the Christian community and to Sharath. I feel that I have made a friend in him. He is very bright, but still does homage to the Hindu idols. Please pray for all the communities like this one. They stand between the past and the future, and Christ is at the door knocking with His gentle love.

Tuesday, 15 October 2013

It is late Tuesday night October 16, 2013, and yesterday was a hot day in Razole. The entire community went to Miracle Church, where Pastor Sharath's brother, Shravan, has completed the construction of wonderful facilities for the children at Miracle Children's Home. It is truly an excellent construction, beautiful, clean, and modern. Everyone was weary coming home from the stifling heat. Plus the formal occasion demanded suit and tie. I was the renegade in a white shirt and pants, but it was much cooler. The children were truly beautiful.

We are still giving thanks and full of amazement at the "Bandh" has ended. Life here was constantly disrupted for over 70 days. At the end even all power was cut. GOD answered prayer and suddenly, it is over. The children will go back to school on Thursday. This is especially important for the Agape Children's Home children, since they are here precisely for educational reasons. Many come from rural villages where they could not learn the skills for modern living.

So today God gave everyone a TREAT!!! We went swimming! There is a resort nearby with a wonderful, clean, modern pool. Boy the children liked it. Raju took many pictures, which I will post 'as soon as possible'. We have another full day tomorrow, so this little update will have to do for now.

Thank you for reading this first-hand account of my life in Razole, India. If you are so inclined, please pray for that we will have the ability and strength to build many bridges between India and America, America and India. We will all benefit greatly.

Saturday, 12 October 2013

It has been the most challenging week of this mission visit. Monday night we had a total power blackout by the "Bandh" -- threatening to last three days. People had no water because all the local wells run by city power. Massive prayer. God answered. We have had pretty consistent power and they have called off the power "Bandh" and also the schools will reopen on the 17th!!!

Sharath arrived from Jaipur by train in the middle of this. This also was an answer to intense prayer. Then Roger, Sarah, Alice and Cheryl arrived from America and we had a three day women's conference for 300 women. In the middle of this, with the power going on and off all day, we hear that the massive Cyclone was coming from the Bay of Bengal. Again to prayer. It redirected north of us and now we are praying for those in Orisha State. The power is steady and that is why I am able to write this tonight (Saturday October 12 about Midnight). I just Skyped with my sister in Florida and many people are praying. It has come ashore as a Category 4 and over 500,000 people have been forcibly evacuated.

Here is the latest update:
